Portuguese Ceramic Tiles

Collection inspired in the traditional patterns of Portuguese ceramic tiles, a very characteristic element of our culture. Its use is common to other countries like Spain, Italy, Turkey, Iran and Morocco, but in Portugal is of particular importance in the context of artistic creation, because of the longevity of its use as a decorative element in interior and exterior walls of buildings without interruption for five centuries. In the late fifteenth century, the development of ceramic tile was stimulated, being strongly felt the Arab presence in the Iberian Peninsula, by the stay of a practice of Ceramics, with archaic techniques of dry -rope and edge, defining patterns and geometric motifs.
